For years, Vinesha Ramasamy sought answers to what went wrong in the surgery that left her in debilitating pain. But after the hospital visit is over, the answers aren’t easy to come by.
Her story is one of thousands found in Ontario hospital patients surveys obtained by the Investigative Journalism Bureau through dozens of Freedom of Information requests. Our investigation The Patient Files made survey data across Ontario hospitals public for the first time.
These surveys detailed heartfelt personal pleas to hospital leaders to address shortcomings in their care. Many, including Vinesha’s, were never answered.
