Investigating Indigenous Issues panel: A non-profit journalism case study

By

Over the past four years, the IJB has built a unique model for in-depth reporting on Indigenous issues that has unearthed powerful new insights. With the support of philanthropic funding, IJB research and reporting has unveiled forensic details on everything from substandard water quality on First Nations reserves to crumbling infrastructure and lack of mental health services. The work has inspired public debate, demanded government accountability, and developed an in-depth strategy for uncovering important truths in the public interest.

A panel discussion on November 27, 2024, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, focused on unpacking the highlights, challenges, and key insights.

Facilitated by:

Robert Cribb, Founder & Director, Investigative Journalism Bureau

Panelists:

Christopher Hoyos, Director of Policy and Communications, Chiefs of Ontario

Sara Krynitzki, Director of Public Affairs and Research, Philanthropic Foundations of Canada

Wendy-Ann Clarke, Reporter, Investigative Journalism Bureau
